The opportunity: A leading propagator of soft fruit plants had a supply of plant material with no market for it.

The activity: After a brief review of potential bioactives of interest, MacTavish:West sourced analysis of the plant material. This was compared with commercial material from the same plant currently used as a herbal tea. A potential market for the product was identified in horse feed. Larger samples of material were obtained and milled, and feeding trials commenced to test safety and efficacy.

The solution: A potential new market for this previous waste product has been identified, a purchaser has been linked up, and subject to contract, our client will commence supply in the 2010 season.
