The opportunity: Rhubarb crowns (roots) are valued in the herbal medicine industry for their anthraquinones and stilbenes. New bioactivity has been identified for skin lightening/whitening, with potential to treat melasma and age spots. We are developing new extracts and testing efficacy and safety.

New bioactivity has been identified for skin lightening/whitening, with potential to treat melasma and age spots. We are developing new extracts and testing efficacy and safety.


The solution: MacTavish:West have developed a consortium of research providers and commercial extractors/formulators to develop potentially high value extracts from rhubarb crowns for use in the cosmetic and personal care industries.
